BIP (Behavior Intervention Plans)
IDEA requires a behavior intervention plan when there is a review or revision of an IEP when there is a pattern of behavior that impedes the student's learning, or when the occurrence of the behavior subjects the student to disciplinary action. The plan must have clearly defined operational definitions of behavior and it requires the collection of data. Positive approaches are usually used as a school wide system. The behavior plan must be selected and implemented by educators who know the student. They must be able to individualize the interventions being used based on the principals of behavior analysis. The link below can give suggestions for many different behaviors.
