TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication-Handicapped Children)
It was founded by Dr. Eric Schopler in 1972 and is a model for other programs. It helps people with autism to live or work more effectively at home, school, or the community. It provides clinical services such as diagnostic evaluations, parent training and support groups, and social play. It is a highly structured and predictable environment with the use of visual learning. It is based on the respect for "the culture of autism". "People with autism have characteristics that are different, but not necessarily inferior to the rest of us."
